The green movement is gaining a tremendous amount of traction in the beauty space. In addition, more and more companies and consumers are demanding increased transparency into and regulation of brand product ingredients (and finished products). This traction is only going to increase as mass efforts to live healthy lifestyles and save the planet become more pervasive.
Right now, many mainstream and some green companies are following existing laws and standards when it comes to ingredient usage and processing/manufacturing their products. Although legal, these laws have not been changed in approximately 80 years. This may not seem like a big deal but there are real risks for the everyday consumer, especially those with compromised skin and/or health issues.
Currently, there are ingredients being used that are known to cause cancer, developmental issues during pregnancy and early childhood development, tumors and a host of other health issues. Companies are allowed to use these ingredients, self police and report consumer product issues to governing bodies and not fully disclose all of the known (potential) risks to consumers (before, at or around the time of purchase). This way of doing business leaves consumers vulnerable.
There are specific groups and companies within the green movement who feel that consumers deserve more protection and a greater opportunity to be more informed about our body care products. They are working with legislators to make changes that will allow the governing bodies of the beauty industry to have increased oversight into the product development and processing. Groups and movements such as #cleanbeautyrevolution and EWG are making great strides in promoting change.
At MASS EDEN, we believe that consumers have the right to have safer body care products. As a brand, we are in full alignment with these groups’ efforts to ensure that consumers are able to live healthier lives. That’s why we follow stringent EU ingredient requirements for our products; choose only environmentally friendly packaging; and, put forth great effort to inform consumers about potential risks and triggers along with industry change. We will continue with our efforts and invite you to join us.
We hope that you choose to learn more about green beauty, groups that are fighting for change and the proposed law that can protect you and future generations. Pleas get informed. Please get involved.
